INTROSPECTIVE DISTORTION!!! the best kind there is.

You've most definitely heard of MUSE. If not, you probably live under a rock or in a tide pool.
I cooooould get going on a reeeeally long tangent of how talented these dudes are, but I won't. Suffice it to say, that these guys are breaking musical boundaries. IN AWESOME WAYS!!!!
Which brings us to this.

BAM. This song is Blackout, performed at freaking wembley stadium on their live dvd. Its sooooo good. What I love about it is that not only is it an extremely excellent slow, kind of romancy song, but halfway in he kicks in the ULTRA DISTORTION! which makes the song infinitely dope instantly.
also they get bonus points for the acrobats floating around the audience. And listen to the words.. they're super good. And thinky. As in it makes you think. Not "stinky" with a lisp.

(wildcat noise)!!!!

Okay. So. Pendulum. One of the sweetest bands ever. They are basically half-techno, and half-rock.
...oh and half-TOO GNARLY TO LIVE!!!!
seriously these guys kick butt on many levels. But the sweetest part? Their music videos are INSANE. Either they are visually stunning, or they are really visually stunning with a crazy cool sci-fi twist to it.
I'll start with the sweetest song... Propane nightmares. The video is pretty weird but gets crazy at the end.

k I'll warn you now, these guys have like a thousand videos and they are all ridiculously dope. If you're bored and want your mind blown, look no further.

alien sightings. Here.
most trippy sci-fi adventure ever. Here.
crazy space explosion concert. Here.
band practice in a meteorite with mysterious floating woman...? Here.
desert jogging. Here.

seriously!!! all these videos are movie-quality. They should seriously consider making a full length feature film. Actually probably not, because then the only thing I would do from then on, would be re-watching it over and over.
musically they can get a little repetitive, but luckily their videos blow away the part of your mind that cares about those sorts of things.

more canadians.

so thanks to canadian radio, I think half of my music consists of obscure canadian bands.
Case point: Metric!
check these homies out. I bought their first album Fantasies a couple years ago, and discovered that their music is freaking dope. And its cool because at first its like "eh, they cool I guess." But the more and more you listen to them the better and better they get. Its kind of like avatar the last airbender. It just gets doper and doper until Aang battles Mark Hamil and saves the world!!
any who, here's Combat Baby from their brand new album. Its good.

not gonna lie, I think the music video is kind of lame and pointless but the song is still super duper.

ho. lee. shnikes. shnykes... shnykeez?

BAM! new coolest band ever. And by new, I mean new coolest band that I've most recently discovered. because The Airborne Toxic Event has been around for a while. I think. Thank you Rachel, for introducing me to this fine five-some.
this first song, definitely their most famous, has every reason to be their most famous song because it is so freaking dope. I'm not one to love a piece of music for how emotional it is, but DANG. There is like ten thousand pounds of emotion crammed into this song. Thats how powerful it is. Please take a listen, and try to ignore the part where he talks about lying around naked.

and get this. like two days after my sister rachel told me about these guys, my sister jenn shows me this awesome song of the same band. I think there is a inter-family conspiracy afoot.
Anyways, this is a supREEEEMLY awesome acoustic set by the toxic.

the more I listen to them the more I can't get enough of them. They are truly, ridiculously dope musicians.

getting mugged and loving it

BUY THIS ALBUM RIGHT NOW. go. do it now. I don't even care if you already have it. This album is worth purchasing over and over again so you can experience that brand new cd smell. Is it weird that I like that smell.
Anywho. here's the album I'm talking about.
arguably the best underground alt-rock album in existence.
Each song is supreeeemely dope. Also they mess around with time signature a bunch, which usually annoys me but they make it sound awesome.
Plus! they get bonus points because each song has awesome lyrics. You can tell that this band is all about the music, that is before they disbanded in 2008, probably due to the fact that they didn't care enough about making money.
Technically, this song isn't even from this album, but its the best looking video they have on youtube + its a super dope song, which completely earns my ridiculously dope music stamp of approval.
POWER STAMP!

listening to your sunday best

this is literally one of the best performances of any hymn caught on film and then put on youtube ever. My humanities professor showed me it- it is a truly powerful performance. I dare you to feel sad after listening to this.

also, bonus points because this was BYU in like the 80's, so everyone has better style than they do nowadays.

dudetacular.

behold! The Dudes. playing their super dope song, Do The Right Thing. Seriously- this song is so enjoyable. Its just happy. and... good. yes.
they're a band from Canada, I want to say vancouver area... not sure. but this song would play on this random Canadian modern rock station that I would listen to alllll the time. I miss driving around and listening to this song... sigh...

But! thanks to youtube, I can get my the dudes fix. I tried buying their cd, but they havn't made it that big yet so I'd have to go to freaking canada to get it. CURSES, EH?!

dueling cellists!!!!

Come on. If you think about it, can there be anything cooler than two amazing cellists rocking out a duet? except dueling eachother?? playing Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson???!!! MIND EXPLOSION

Thank you Stjepan and Luka, for arranging this amazing piece and for having funny names.

I wanna breathe that fire again!!

okeydokey. for my first example of ridiculously dope music, get a load of these guys.

the killers!!!

an amazing band. Started in the early 2000's, punched out 3 albums plus a whole album of freaking sweet b-sides.

Sam's Town, their second album, has actually been scientifically proven to be one of the greatest albums of all time. I'm not even joking its like the law of gravity.

this song, For Reasons Unknown, is from that album and I put the live version on because they make it sound way better this way.

check it!

plus, they get bonus points because their live stuff is pheNOM, as you can see from the video.

I could go off on a random facts tangent about the killers, but I'll stop myself now. all you need to know is that they kick serious musical butt and that they do indeed qualify for my ridiculously dope music stamp of approval.

STAMP!

woo hoo! first post. sup.

Alrighty! first post. oh man. by the end of tomorrow I'll more than likely become a blog addict.
becaaaauuse...
